Holidays and topping up, and perhaps...bottling!

So far if I have had to top up any of my carboys I have been doing so with purified water.  This is the method that most books and forums recommend.  I have noticed though that the downfall to this method is a thinning out of the wine in flavor, body, and color. 
Recently I came across a few message board threads that recommend using glass marbles to displace the volume rather than water. I am definitely looking forward to trying this out!

Also, I really would like to have at least a bottle of my wine during the holiday festivities that lay ahead so I think I am going to bottle some wine either this or next weekend.  I have some that have been aging for a few months and although a year is optimal, I'm not patient enough!
