The Vines! and etc.

I actually have 9 vines total. There are 6 in my backyard (2 Frontenac, 2 Traminette, and 2 Cabernet Franc) and 3 Marechal Foch at the actual Pippin Orchard Site. The Traminette vines are growing like crazy; the top picture. One of my Frontenac's got eaten by some sort of night creature, but I have since purchased some organic animal repellant which seems to be working quite well. And luckily I had a few other buds on there and one has now developed a new shoot so it looks like it will come back. The Cabernet Franc arrived just a few days ago so they haven't done much yet, though I am quite excited for the prospects.
I also have in primary fermentation right now a Raspberry batch. The fermentation on this one started nice and strong and in another day or two its going to be time to rack. Thats all for now!

<--- the mascerating raspberries in cheese cloth. I know it looks kinda funky but all the raspberry wine I've ever had has been deeeelicious!

Time to Age!

So my 2nd gallon of wild blueberry finally fermented out nice and clear. This was the gallon that I decided to oak.

I tried it yesterday as I was racking and prepping to age it. Let me just say... I am very excited for the potential that this one has! It is a bit heavy on the oak... though not overwhelmingly so. I am hoping and assuming that this will smooth out as it ages. But I have to say (patting on the back) that for my first try its pretty darn good!

I will definitely be planning a celebration for sometime next summer when I do the first pour!

More to come later!
